Back-to-back sixes off the bat of Tim David at the start of the final over saw Trinbago Knight Riders defeat Guyana Amazon Warriors by five wickets last night in a pulsating Republic Bank CPL match at the Queen Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago.
Sent into bat the Warriors recovered from 60-5 to post 148-7, thanks to lower-order hitting from Romario Shepherd who finished unbeaten on 51.
In reply, TKR needed 12 runs off the last over, and they got home with four balls to spare.
David finished unbeaten on 31 and Player of the Match Andre Russell 36 not out off 15 balls with 1- four and 4-sixes.
Nathan Sowter was the pick of the bowlers with 3-37
The victory moved the Knight Riders into 2nd place in the standings on eight points – the same as the St. Lucia Kings – but with a superior net run rate, while the Warriors slipped to 4th on six points.
TKR are currently back in action against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons – live on MCTV’s Sportsmax channel 310 – while it’ll also be shown tape delayed on CBC TV8 from 8:03 p.m.
