Barbados Taekwondo Athlete, Chioke Holder, has won a bronze medal at the 2024 Polish Open.
He was third in the men’s 87+ Kilogramme Sparring Category.
Holder defeated Michal Ptetruszka of Poland in the quarterfinals, winning two rounds to one in the two-best-of-three contest.
The first round was tied at five-all but holder was assessed as the winner on superiority, based on how the points were earned.
The hometown favourite won the 2nd round 6-4, but Holder stamped his superiority in the decisive 3rd round, taking it 12-3.
However, in his semifinal match, Holder lost to the eventual gold medal winner – Andrii Harbar of Ukraine – 2-0 losing the 1st round 0-9 and the 2nd 2-12.
Jiminez Corredor of Spain won the silver, while Logan Miller of Great Britain shared the bronze with Holder.
