The Windward Islands Volcanoes franchise is relocating to the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia, where it will be based for the next three years.
The Volcanoes had been headquartered at Arnos Vale in St Vincent since 2023, having previously been based in Dominica and Grenada.
The move to Saint Lucia is scheduled for October 1, with a memorandum of understanding between Saint Lucia’s Department of Youth Development and Sports and the Windward Islands Cricket Board having been signed today.
The relocation comes as the franchise searches for a new head coach, following the departure of Kenroy Peters last month.
Having the Volcanoes based in Saint Lucia is expected to provide a major boost to cricket on the island, with players including Ackeem Auguste, Keon Gaston, Kimani Melius, Noelle Leo and Shadrack Descarte set to benefit from top-level training at home.
The presence of a full-time professional franchise in St Lucia is also expected to create a clearer development pathway, giving young players and local coaches opportunities to train alongside top regional players and further develop their skills.
