There is a new national record in the women’s javelin throw!
Kayla Thorpe, representing the University of Maryland, set the new mark of 53.44 metres at the NCCA finals in Oregon, USA this past week.
The old record was held by former West Indies Cricketer and junior national athlete Deandra Dottin, who had a throw of 47 metres at the CARIFTA Games in St. Kitts back in 2008.
