West Indies have made three changes to the Test squad that recently faced Australia, recalling batters Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze, and giving left-arm spinner Khary Pierre a maiden call-up for the two-Test series against India starting October 2.
Chanderpaul and Athanaze strengthen the top-order batting, while Pierre joins as the second specialist spinner after strong performances in the West Indies Championship.
Spinner Gudakesh Motie has been rested due to the upcoming limited-overs schedule, including the ICC T20 World Cup in February–March next year.
The squad reads: Captain Roston Chase, deputy Jomel Warrican, Kevlon Anderson, Athanaze, John Campbell, Chanderpaul, Justin Greaves, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Anderson Phillip, Pierre, and Jayden Seales.
The team departs the Caribbean on September 22, arriving in Ahmedabad on September 24.
The first Test runs from October 2–6, and the second from October 10–14.
