Defending champions Wanderers didn’t have the best of starts as they were kept in the field all day to begin the 2025 BCA Elite Division.
When day one of the opening series bowled off today, Wanderers visited the 3Ws Oval to face home side UWI.
They sent the hosts into bat, and at stumps, UWI were 255 for six, with Tahj Tavernier unbeaten on 78. This was supported by half-centuries from Hans Campbell (59) and Jai Clarke (51).
Meanwhile, at Lucas Street, newly promoted Windward had a good day, trailing Yorkshire by 173 runs. Jarion Hoyte and Jayden Roberts took three wickets each to help bowl the visitors out for 231.
Armani Best led Yorkshire with 63 before Windward closed the day on 58 without loss.
Over at Foursquare, Giovonte Depeiza struck the first century of the season, remaining unbeaten on 101 as Superb Blend Gladiola opted to bat first.
They closed the day on 279 for eight, with Rashawn Worell adding 55. Rondre Yearwood claimed 5 for 96.
At Dash Valley, Wildey had the upper hand over Empire, bowling the Blues out for just 89, with Deswin Currency bagging five for 23. Wildey, in reply, are 113 for two.
Over at Beckles Road, Signiaglobe Financial BCA Youth closed the day on 317 for nine.
Shaquan Belle smashed 71 not out, with Micah Greenidge adding 69 and Akeem McCollin contributing 64.
