The start of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games has been fraught with challenges for Team Barbados, which Chef de Mission, Cammie Burke, believes may not be solved for a couple of days.
Speaking to CBC Sports on the Eve of the opening ceremony, Mr. Burke first reported a shortage of food in the Athletes Village.
There are also issues with transportation, which have seen members of Team Barbados becoming lost on a few occasions.
There’s also a situation where everyone on Team Barbados may not get to parade at the opening ceremony, as Barbados only received seven passes for the 11-member contingent.
Despite the issues, Mr. Burke expects the Bajan athletes to be ready to compete in their individual events.
Track athletes Sada Williams and Tristan Evelyn, along with swimmer Jack Kirby are already in the village, while triathlete Matthew Wright is due tomorrow.
