Tommaso Layson was the standout performer for Team Barbados on the opening day of the Barbados Surf Pro at Soup Bowl in Bathsheba.
The 16-year-old was impressive, winning Heat 3 of the opening round with a wave total of 14.73, a combination of his two best waves, a 6.73 and an 8.00.
Another Barbadian, Caleb Rapson, was 2nd in that same heat and also advanced with a wave total of 11.00.
Rafe Gooding is also through to the next round after a 2nd place finish in Heat 4 with a 9.60.
The Round of 96 will also feature Ocean Gittens, after a solid 2nd place in Heat 14 with a tally of 7.03.
