Barbados Tridents will be heading into this week’s Republic Bank CPL playoffs on a high after winning last night’s final preliminary match against table-toppers Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Opting to field first at Kensington Oval, the Tridents skittled out the Warriors for 99.
Johann Layne took three for 40, while Player of the Match AM Ghazanfar took three for 17.
At their turn at the crease, the Tridents got home on 100 for four from 14.5 overs to win by six wickets.
Brandon King was unbeaten on 44.
With the regular season now over, the first playoff game – the Eliminator – is set for Wednesday between the Tridents and the Jamaica Kingsmen.
That will be followed on Thursday by Qualifier #1 between the Warriors and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
The winner of that first qualifier advances directly to Sunday’s final, while the loser will take on the winner of the Eliminator on Friday for the right to be the other finalist.
All matches are scheduled for Kensington Oval.
