BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – West Indies defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in the first One Day International (ODI) at Warner Park on Sunday.
Bangladesh made 294-6 off their 50 overs, while the West Indies were able to recover from an early scare to make 295-5 off 47.4 overs.
Romario Shepherd snapped up three for 51 and Alzarri Joseph two for 67. Player-of-the-match Sherfane Rutherford led the way with 113 inclusive of 7-fours and 8-sixes. He was backed up by skipper Shai Hope’s 86 and 41 not out from Justin Greaves.
The second ODI is on Tuesday again in St. Kitts.
