Government raised more than 83 million dollars under the Barbados Optional Savings Scheme or BOSS programme.
Minister in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Ryan Straughn provided the update as the Lower House met today.
He acknowledged the 18 month programme, which finished last December, fell short of its original target.
Minister Straughn however declared the programme a success.
He was speaking as he led off Debate on the Barbados Optional Savings Bonds Plus (Offer to Public) Bill.
That BOSS Plus Bill expands the scope of the programme to all Barbadians as opposed to only public servants.
