Mindful of the burden on Barbadians of ever-increasing prices at the pump, the government has placed a cap on gas and diesel from Friday.
The decision was announced by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley in an address to the nation this evening.
The cap represents a reduction of 35 cents on gas and 25 cents on diesel and will be in place until the end of January next year.
The Prime Minister stressed that her government is committed to doing all it can to bring relief to Barbadians in these uncertain and difficult times.
The Prime Minister also encouraged Barbadians to participate in the three town hall meetings on the national insurance scheme, the first of which got underway this evening at the Combermere School.
