Hurricane Janet left a trail of destruction when it struck Barbados on September 22, 1955.
Over 30 lives were lost from the Category 1 storm, while thousands of people were left homeless as their homes were flattened 67 years ago on this day.
It did not leave its destruction in Barbados, as it became a Category 5 storm, causing death and devastation in other countries. It was the most powerful tropical cyclone of the 1955 Atlantic hurricane season.
