Barbadians will have a two-year moratorium to bring their accounts with the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) up to date.
This was another announcement that Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley made at the 83rd annual Barbados Labour Party Conference at Queen’s Park in Bridgetown on Saturday.
This means that BWA customers who are in arrears are getting an extension to pay off their water bills without facing disconnection.
Recently, BWA started a drive to recover outstanding arrears, giving customers until the end of October 2022 to bring their accounts completely up to date, or make arrangements to pay in installments because monies owed to BWA had increased by at least $26 million over the last 30 months.
