Some 1,200 complaints of broken service mains are reported to the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) on a monthly basis.
Director of Engineering, Charles Leslie, made the revelation as he sought to give residents of St. Lucy some insight into the work at the BWA.
He was speaking at the latest Parish Speaks held in St. Lucy at the Daryll Jordan Secondary School on Monday.
Mr Leslie noted that a lot of the breaks occur on aged mains.
