PM Mottley holds bilateral meetings with several officials

Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and her Canadian counterpart Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a bilateral meeting at the 44th Regular Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government.

During that meeting Prime Minister Trudeau referenced Canada’s long and deep ties with Barbados, highlighting Prime Minister Mottley’s work on climate change and her strong voice in trying to bring adjustment to the international financial architecture to assist middle income countries that are extremely vulnerable to climate change.

In response, Prime Minister Mottley thanked Prime Minister Trudeau, pointing to the benefits of the relationship between the two countries.

In addition, Ms. Mottley met with Minister of State for International Cooperation in the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy.

She also met with Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Dr. Ngozi Okowno Iwela.

Prime Minister Mottley also held a series of bilateral meetings yesterday ahead of the opening of the 44th Regular Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government.

She met with President and Chairman of Afreximbank Professor Benedict Okey Oramah, President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) Reta Jo Lewis, US Special Presidential Envoy on Climate John Kerry, Special Presidential Advisor for the Americas former US Senator Chris Dodd and Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of China Cai Wei.
