Efforts on to have more young people involved in sheep farming

August 25th, 2021

An effort is underway to encourage young Barbadians to get involved in sheep farming.

It’s the focus of Government’s Black Belly Sheep Programme.

Three 4H Clubs – Holy Innocents and Ignatius Byer Primary Schools and the Western United Stars Community 4H Clubs were recently presented with a number of the animals through the programme at the Government’s Animal Livestock Station.

Consultant, Dr. Leroy McClean says the idea is to instill a sense of responsibility in young people and to show them there is entrepreneurship in farming.

Meanwhile, Club Leader at Western United Stars Community 4H Club Andrea Lynch, says it is a dream come true for the young members.
