CMC – Twenty-five Jamaican Red Poll cattle were exported to the Cayman Islands to bolster the country’s livestock industry through the provision of improved cattle genetics.
According to officials in Jamaica’s Ministry of Agriculture the exportation of the animals is one of several such arrangements arising out of bilateral talks between the Government and the Government of the Cayman Islands.
The arrangement is one that also seeks to enhance trade between the countries and strengthen regional partnerships.
The 22 heifers and three bulls, which were sourced through the Cattle Breeders Society of Jamaica, departed the island from the Norman Manley International Airport on Thursday.
