The Sanitation Service Authority says its garbage collection efforts are being hampered by an inability to get spare parts for its fleet of trucks.
Minister of Environment and National Beautification Adrian Forde says Barbados is not alone, and like the rest of the world is affected by logistics and supply chain issues brought on by the war in Ukraine.
He’s apologised to Barbadians for the delays in garbage pickups.
The Minister says a robust repair programme for the trucks is underway, bolstered by help from the Maria Holder Foundation.
However, he’s also asking Barbadians to cooperate with personnel from the SSA as they do their job across the island.
