Barbados is working on a draft gender policy which will hopefully be completed and ready for approval by Parliament by April.
Director of the Bureau of Gender Affairs William Warner says it is being done in conjunction with UN Women and the Institute for Gender and Development Studies.
He says the Bureau will be working a lot more with non-governmental organisations and in the next financial year, they will be increasing subventions to these groups by more than 300%.
Mr. Warner says the focus will be on entrepreneurship through community-based projects.
