Samara Bristol still missing

November 18, 2021

“Think of the parents, family and friends who are hurt every time you spread fake rumours”.

That was the impassioned appeal from public relations officer with the Royal Barbados Police Force, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss, as he confirmed to CBC News that 30-year-old Samara Bristol who has been staying at Airy Cot, St Thomas, has not been located as yet.

He said that Bristol, a Barbadian-born, American national, occasionally visits the island. However the “fake news” surrounding Samara, who was reported missing by her mother Samantha Bristol, a Barbadian who now resides in Queens, New York, has caused great distress for her loved ones.

Acting Inspector Inniss urged the public to think about those who would be affected in these situations, before sharing information that has not been verified:

“In fact, we would love if members of the public who are posting these fake stories would help us by sharing whatever information they may have – we would gladly accept it and they can play a part in assisting us in this investigation”.

Stressing that “you do not know if similar circumstances will come home at your doorsteps,” he urged the public to “empathise with what people are going through,” instead of spreading information that has not been verified.

He added that police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
