There’s concern some children are passing through the education system with undetected hearing problems.
The issue has been highlighted by President of the Rotary Club of Barbados West Rene Butcher who’s announced a plan is in the works to screen primary school children across the island for hearing loss. He was speaking on the sidelines of the Rotary West Installation dinner over the weekend.
Mr. Butcher says Rotary will be working closely with the Ministry of Education and other partners to address the problem.
He says they want to start the initiative during the next school year.
