As at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021, there were 120 patients in isolation facilities (23 in primary, 89 in secondary and eight in tertiary isolation).

Of these, 39 patients (33 per cent) were unvaccinated and 76 (63 per cent) were fully vaccinated. Of those fully vaccinated, two patients were in primary isolation, 67 in secondary and seven were in tertiary isolation.

Five people, one in primary and four in secondary isolation, were partially vaccinated for COVID-19.

Additionally, the unvaccinated comprised 20 persons in primary, 18 in secondary and one in tertiary isolation.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation housing the most severely ill.

Tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness. It is important to note that the number of people in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as individuals are admitted and discharged.
