Barbados records 150 new COVID-19 cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 150 new cases (71 males and 79 females) of COVID-19, from the 892 tests conducted on Saturday, January 1.

Of these, 20 people were under the age of 18, and 130 were 18 years and older.

There were 203 people in isolation facilities, and 1,282 in home isolation.

The public health laboratory has carried out 472,837 tests since February 2020, and recorded 28,960 COVID-19 cases – 13,726 males and 15,234 females. The number of individuals who died from the virus remains at 262.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 155,993 (68.3 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of individuals who are fully vaccinated is 143,722 (53.2 per cent of the total population or 62.9 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
