Barbados records 387 new COVID-19 cases

There were 387 new COVID-19 cases – 172 males and 215 females – recorded on Sunday, January 9, from the 1,690 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the new cases, 84 people were under the age of 18, and 303 were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 105, while 3,243 were in home isolation.

As at January 10, there were 266 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 488,152 tests since February 2020, and recorded 32,228 COVID-19 cases (15,131 males and 17,097 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 156,763 (68.6 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of individuals who are fully vaccinated is 144,881 (53.5 per cent of the total population or 63.4 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
