Guyana is pushing fellow CARICOM member states to prioritize the agricultural sector, given its importance in staving off a catastrophe crisis.
While efforts continue to cut the region’s food import bill, President Dr Irfan Ali notes that billions are needed to help the Caribbean achieve the target.
Dr Ali says Guyana is focusing on the launch of the first-ever Food Hub that will be linked with Barbados.
He was speaking at the Caribbean Leaders Open Dialogue organised by the Caribbean Association of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.
