Barbados has been unanimously admitted to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
The decision came during the IOM Council’s 113th session which is underway in Geneva.
The organisation, which is part of the United Nations system, is the leading inter-governmental agency promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all.
During his acceptance speech, Barbados’ Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Matthew Wilson, said Barbados was pleased to become the IOM’s 175th member.
Director General of the IOM António Vitorino, welcomed Barbados’ membership and pledged the agency’s continued support.
