The Barbados Water Authority is advising customers in some St. James, St. Thomas and St. Andrew districts that it will carry out nightly shut-offs of the water supply to their areas starting Thursday, January 26 until Thursday, February 2, 2023.
In a release, the BWA noted the shut-offs will take place between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. daily on the specified dates.
Residents in the following districts are expected to be impacted:
· In St. James – Apes Hill Development, Orange Hill Development, Endeavour Nos. 1, 2 & 3, Walcott’s Road, Jackmans Alley and Deans Town Terrace
· In St. Thomas – Plumtree and Rock Hall
· In St. Andrew – Apes Hill and Turners Hall
The Water Authority says the shut-offs are to allow it to safely sanitise its new facility at Apes Hill, prior to putting it into operation.
The BWA says its tanker crews will make every effort to assist customers in the affected districts as a temporary measure. However, residents are advised to store water to use during these periods. They are also cautioned that there may be some discolouration in the water immediately following the resumption of the water supply.
