Call for trade unions to be respected

The General Secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union is sounding a warning to both government and the private sector to respect the island’s trade unions.

Toni Moore, who is also the MP for St George North, says some businesses, particularly those in the construction sector – have given the impression they are anti-worker and anti-union.

But she says disrespect at any level, will not be tolerated.

The BWU General Secretary has also addressed the Union’s treatment in relation to some of the state-owned enterprises, enlisting the help of her colleagues in an appeal for improved communication.
