Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has announced the extension of existing measures and the introduction of new ones, to boost the greening of vehicles in the island.
She says the Excise Tax and VAT holiday on electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles set to expire March 31, has been extended another two years.
Additionally, with 49 electric buses currently in its fleet, the Transport Board is expected to receive another 10 in August and there are plans to buy another 21, bringing the total to 80.
The Prime Minister also announced plans to assist the owners of public sector vehicles in making the move to electric or hybrid vehicles.
A similar initiative has been announced for postal workers.
