A family of five is counting its losses after the firebug struck at their St. Michael dwelling.
The burnt stone structure at #50 Alleynes Land, Clevedale Road, Black Rock was occupied by Sherry Blackman and others.
It occurred around 7:23 this morning.
Two water tenders and eight officers from the Barbados Fire Service under the command of Divisional Officer Vaughn and Station Officer Bourne responded to the blaze.
Fire officials tell CBC News that the house was owned by Christa Belle James.
Member of Parliament for the area and Minister of Tourism, Ian Gooding-Edghill, lamented the unfortunate incident noting that Government is moving hastily to help the needy family.
