Labour Minister responds to business vaccine mandates

Management of Hill Milling Company and Lionel C Hill Supermarket has been advised to withdraw its electronic document to employees threatening termination of employment if they don’t take the COVID-19 vaccine by September 30th.

This from the Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership.

Labour Minister Colin Jordan says the Employment Act prohibits employers from requiring a person to be tested for a medical condition either as a precondition for entering into a contract of employment or as a condition for continuing employment.

Minister Jordan says while Government strongly encourages Barbadians to be vaccinated, there is currently no legislation that requires an employee to be vaccinated.
