The Barbados Light and Power Company’s rate hearing before the Fair Trading Commission is expected to resume at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.
This after the five member Commission, led by Chairman Dr. Donley Carrington, dismissed two motions submitted by the Office of Public Counsel requesting a two month adjournment of the hearing and extended time to take part in the proceedings.
When the hearing started just after nine this morning, Acting Public Counsel, Sharon Deane argued the motion, noting that due to illness of the substantive holder of the post, she had only been in office for a few days prior to the hearing and was not in a position to adequately prepare having to read more than 1300 pages of documents.
Explaining the decision to dismiss the motions, Dr. Carrington said should an adjournment be granted, it would be the second time for such a delay on an application that was first filed almost a year ago.
