The current outlook for the COVID-19 situation in Barbados remains optimistic.
This from Minister of Health and Wellness, Ian Gooding-Edghill in a statement this evening.
He says infections are trending downwards, with the positivity rate over last week ranging between 10-12%, down from a high a month ago of 26%, although the risk of transmission remains a problem.
During the statement, Minister Gooding-Edghill revealed that the outbreak at the Geriatric Hospital has been brought to an end, and only a few new positive cases had been reported at the Dodd’s Prison and the Psychiatric Hospital. He also noted occupancy at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility is currently at 40%.
However, officials continue to monitor the situation at the QEH, which has reported an increase in numbers and severity of cases of people with NCD’s and their complications.
Minister Gooding-Edghill says while he is pleased at the improvement in the COVId-19 situation, Barbados still has a long way to go, and he reminded the public to remain responsible in their daily activities.
