Education officials are committed to ensuring each school in the country has a functioning agricultural programme.
Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, Kay McConney says 13 schools across the country currently deliver agriculture programmes, with two of them offering specialties in land-based fish farming or aquaculture.
She’s committed to seeing those numbers grow.
The Education Minister was speaking as she reopened a greenhouse at Harrison College.
That facility was first opened in 2009, but it ran into a state of disrepair overtime. However, donors, corporate Barbados and staff stepped in to revive it.
Noting the greenhouse has potential beyond exam preparation, Ms. McConney wants students to consider the viable careers in agriculture.
