Two nursery schools to resume classes

March 21, 2023

Classes at the St. Stephen’s and St. Giles Nursery Schools will resume today.

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training (METVT) advises that Reception students who attend the St. Stephen’s Nursery School will resume classes today, Tuesday, March 21, at the St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Black Rock, St. Michael.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MHW) indicated that it was still seeking to resolve the matter related to the external environmental concern that is affecting the school. The MHW has given the assurance that the matter will be resolved shortly.

The school will be expected to resume at the original site following assessments by environmental health officials.

In addition, the METVT has advised that classes at St. Giles Nursery School, in The Ivy, St. Michael, will also resume today, Tuesday, March 21.

A meeting will be held with officials from the METVT, representatives from the National Petroleum Corporation, teachers’ unions, and staff to discuss additional measures to limit the generation of dust that is caused as a result of the laying of natural gas pipes.

The METVT thanks all staff, students and parents/guardians for their patience as it continues to collaborate with its partners in education to address these concerns.
