Surge of gang violence across the Americas

A special meeting has been held by the Organization of American States Permanent Council to discuss the surge in gang violence across the Americas.

Permanent Representative to the OAS Ambassador Noel Lynch, says despite all the crime fighting efforts, the flow of illegal firearms has to be stemmed in order to solve the problem of gun violence.

He says Barbados has taken several steps in the fight and needs the cooperation of other jurisdictions.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Attorney General Reginald Armour, says a collaborative approach is necessary to target the symptoms and root causes of gang violence.
