Despite being dealt a blow by the COVID-19 pandemic, Barbados is looking forward to a strong winter tourist season.
This is according to Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Senator Lisa Cummins who revealed just under 50,000 arrivals were recorded from January up until September this year.
She gave the update at the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s virtual destination briefing.
Senator Cummins says the figure is less than what the island is accustomed to having – a 71.2% decrease over the corresponding period for 2020.
She says however the country is working to boost numbers from the US market.
