An appeal to Barbadians and by extension the government, to show loyalty in supporting the agriculture sector in the face of recent price increases.
The call from the Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) James Paul, comes as he reveals that consumers are already paying more on the retail end for poultry, meat and other agricultural produce.
But he says while retailers seem to be moving to increase prices, some producers are still holding strain in the face of outside competition.
The BAS CEO also claims some importers are using the situation as an excuse to bring in certain poultry products, for which Barbadians are paying even more.
