More schools to host activities for Season of Emancipation in 2023

Officials will be moving to ensure more schools host activities to mark the Season of Emancipation from next year.

That assurance from Minister with Responsibility for Culture Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight.

She made the point during her feature address at Cultural Day activities at the Springer Memorial School.

That event featured speeches from many including Barbados’ Ambassador to CARICOM, David Comissiong along with presentations from students, the Barbados Police Service and the Israel Lovell Foundation.

Another highlight was the Junior Masquerade, which saw 60 students playing mas under the theme ‘Inclusion and Diversity’.

Principal Mitchell Maxwell in her address, spoke of the importance of the school’s event and the Season of Emancipation.
