Navigating puberty can be complicated and a little intimidating for young people, not to mention parents.
However, a local paediatrician is impressing on the need for parents to talk to their children early about the changes in their body, before they start happening.
Paediatrician, Dr. Gillian Birchwood notes puberty doesn’t happen overnight but over a period of years.
Aside from the physical changes in a child, she says there will be emotional changes as well.
She weighed in on the topic during the Doctor On Call segment of CBC TV8’s Mornin’ Barbados.
