July 2021 was the hottest month in 142 years of records, amid extreme weather around the globe.

This is according to data released by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or NOAA’s National Centres for Environmental Information.

NOAA data reveals the monthly average temperature just eclipsed the previous record set in July of 2016, which was then tied in 2019 and 2020.

Numerous heat waves were noted during the month, in regions that included Western US, Eastern Europe, and Asia.

In addition, other examples of extreme weather included devastating flash floods in Germany, Belgium and China, and dangerous wildfires across North America and Europe.
