Barbados is a step closer to having a direct air link with Rwanda in Africa.

The news comes as the two countries sign a new Air Services Agreement which could soon see the island bridging the gap with the African continent by way of a partnership with Rwanda Air.

Speaking on the sidelines of the COP27 summit in Egypt, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kerrie Symmonds explains it will make it easier to build the economic relationship between Bridgetown and Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali.

Barbados has also signed a Sports Cooperation Agreement with Rwanda, and along with Guyana, launched a Transatlantic Pharmaceutical Initiative to develop and manufacture pharmaceuticals for global public health.

Minister Symmonds says this is just the beginning.
