The Queen Elizabeth Hospital ranks highest in the region when it comes to the survival rate of premature babies.
A premature baby is one which is delivered under 37 weeks gestation.
Yesterday marked World Prematurity Day and Dr. Gillian Birchwood, a Newborn Intensive Care Specialist and head of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the QEH says these babies are high risk.
She adds while they celebrate the successes, those who did not survive are also remembered on the unit.
