Region facing higher possibility of disease outbreaks

December 9, 2022

The region is facing a higher possibility of outbreaks of some diseases due to a fall-off in routine immunisations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Director of the Caribbean Public Health Agency, Dr. Joy St. John, sounded the alarm during a conference organised by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

She said a lot of things could not be sustained because so much effort was put into the public health and clinical management of COVID-19.

Dr. St. John suggests the need for more governmental support and resilience building going forward.
