President of the Barbados Union of Teachers, Rudy Lovell, does not want to see any teacher die on the job because of non-compliance with the Safety and Health at Work (ShaW) Act.
Speaking at the Union’s 49th Annual General Meeting at the Radisson Hotel on Monday, he noted that seasonal environmental issues have been presenting them with lots of health challenges and many teachers are falling sick. He said the cow itch and fires are prime examples.
Feature speaker Professor Dwayne Devonish added that the trade unions must not be forgotten within the educational system, as they are a vital part of education reform.
