Crime and justice system in the spotlight

Stakeholders in the crime and justice system were busy yesterday coming up with solutions to reform the sector.

Part two of the Crime and Justice Symposium was held at the Barbados Hilton.

One definite which Attorney General Dale Marshall says will be set up is a Reform Committee.

The Attorney General told members of the media on the sidelines of the symposium (which was part two to one held last month) that some of the matters under consideration are judge-only trials, amendments to the Evidence Act and amendments to the Juries Act.

Mr. Marshall says while all the laws are not archaic, some have not kept pace with the developments of the law or technology and the clogged up justice system must have the backlog cleared.
