The field for this year’s Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup has been reduced from nine horses to eight.
The Sir David Seale-owned four year old Irish-bred colt ‘Brilliant News’ has been withdrawn from the region’s biggest horse race, set for Saturday at the Garrison Savannah.
CBC understands that ‘Brilliant News’ received an injury to one of the hoofs this morning while training at the beach, and the decision was made that the horse wouldn’t be fully fit in the two days remaining before race day.
CBC also understands there will be no replacement for ‘Brilliant News’ in the Gold Cup.
