Barbados Best-Dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has been recognised by the Pan American Health Organisation/World Health Organisation as a National Influenza Centre and as a member of the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System.
The Bridgetown laboratory joins the likes of the Trinidad and Tobago-based Caribbean Public Health Agency, CARPHA and the Virology Lab located at the University of the West Indies.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley during a recognition ceremony was moved by the designation, stating it is one of immense pride.
