Police have arrested and formally charged a 26-year-old man with a number of criminal offences, surrounding an incident that occurred at the Bridgetown Port.
He is Rashad Mathurin, of Halls Road, St Michael.
That incident occurred at the Bridgetown Port on Tuesday 24 August 2021, between 8:45 pm and 9:00 pm.
Those charges are:
- Trespassing
- Going Equipped
- Handling of Cannabis
- Possession of Cannabis
- Trafficking of Cannabis
- Intent to Supply Cannabis
Police said in a press release that Port security officers were on duty in the Bridgetown Port’s Command Centre on the mentioned date and time, “when they observed on surveillance cameras three males traversing
the inner confines of the Port’s Compound.
“These men were acting suspiciously and Port security officers on mobile patrol were dispatched to the area to investigate. On their arrival, one man was apprehended at the scene while the others, one of whom was the accused, made good their escape.
“Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the accused, who was taken into custody and interviewed. He was later formally charged with the aforementioned offences.”
He is scheduled to appear at the District A Criminal Court at the Supreme Court Complex, White Park
Road, St Michael today, Monday 1 November.
